8-Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climb | Highest Summit Success

Overview

8-Day Lemosho Route — Our Top Kilimanjaro Recommendation

The 8-day Lemosho is the route we recommend more often than any other. It approaches Kilimanjaro from the quiet western side, passes through the spectacular Shira Plateau, follows the classic Barranco Wall traverse, and gives you a full extra day of acclimatisation that the 6 and 7-day climbs simply cannot match. The result: a summit success rate of around 90% with our guides.

Why Lemosho Over Other Routes

  • Best acclimatisation profile — the classic 'climb high, sleep low' pattern
  • Most scenic route — five climate zones, dramatic glaciers, panoramic ridges
  • Quieter trails — fewer climbers than Machame or Marangu
  • Highest summit success of the standard routes

The Summit Night

From Barafu Camp at 4,673m, we begin the summit push at midnight under stars. Six to seven hours of slow, steady walking brings you to Stella Point as the sun rises over Mawenzi Peak. Another 45 minutes along the crater rim and you stand on Uhuru Peak — 5,895 metres, the Roof of Africa.
