6-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb | Hut Accommodation

Overview

6-Day Marangu — The Only Hut Route

The Marangu Route, sometimes called the 'Coca-Cola Route', is the oldest and most established trail up Kilimanjaro — and the only one with proper hut accommodation. For climbers who prefer a real mattress, a wooden roof over their heads, and a dining hall at the end of each day, Marangu is the answer.

Why Marangu

  • Hut accommodation with bunks, mattresses, and shared dining halls at Mandara, Horombo and Kibo
  • Shortest standard route at 6 days
  • Same ascent and descent path — you see the route twice
  • Generally more affordable than other routes

An Honest Note

Marangu has a lower summit success rate than Lemosho or Machame because of its shorter profile and faster altitude gain. We strongly recommend taking the optional extra acclimatisation day at Horombo (turning this into a 7-day climb) if you are unsure about your altitude tolerance.
